Installing solar panels can significantly reduce the electricity you buy from the grid. You may also receive payments from your electricity supplier for any excess electricity you export. Installing solar panels on most houses is permitted development, so no planning permission is required. However, if you live in a conservation area or a National Park, you may need to apply for planning permission, and in these cases you should check with your local council.
